You may enter more than one category, but a separate form is required for each entry. Read the criteria on the website carefully before responding to all questions.

A panel of experts undertakes judging for each category. Stage 1 of the judging process will be to shortlist submissions based on each award category criteria. The panel will assign marks according to predetermined criteria to ensure consistency between judges. The judges’ decision is final, and canvassing may lead to disqualification.

If an applicant is shortlisted for Stage 2, they will either be invited to attend a short interview/presentation with the judging panel followed by Q&A, or have a mystery shopping assessment conducted. Details on which award categories will be judged via an interview/presentation or have a mystery shopping assessment can be found in each award category criteria. Shortlisted finalists will then be ranked on the scores they are allocated at either the interview/presentation or the mystery shopping assessment. Please note that if an applicant is shortlisted for stage 2 of the judging process in a category that requires an interview/presentation, they must be able to attend a 15 minute interview/presentation on Thursday 1st March 2018 at the Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn.

Businesses shortlisted will be announced on this website on Monday 19th February 2018. No winners will be announced until the event on Friday 23rd March 2018.

All applications must be received by email to by 5:00 PM on Monday 12th February 2018.

The Judging Process

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has appointed an independent delivery agent who will form the judging panel for these awards. This panel will be responsible for reviewing applications of all award categories and interviewing finalists in certain award categories and deciding the winners.

For the following award categories; Best Tourism Business Award, Excellence in Customer Service Retail and Non-Retail Awards, Best Licensed and Non-Licensed Eating Establishment Awards, a mystery shopping agency will conduct independent assessments on the finalists to determine the winners of each of these categories.
